Minimum Apocalypse game is 3000 points. There is no upper limit. So just take what you can in vehicles and bikes and what you can fit into a transport vehicle. If we have a bunch of people showing up then each individual person does not need to have 3000 points worth of stuff, as it is the total points of each team that will be looked at. So if a person has only 1000 points of vehicles then they can just bring that and add that to the team total.

would the warp rift count as a vehicle or transport since it is technically transporting my daemons on to the table?

I'm going to say no. If it can't be destroyed it isn't a vehicle, IMO.

Okay, so The Jechal and I played this game and we ended up with a little over 6000 pts each.

The forces of the Mortis Legion:

The Jechal's Tyrant's and Disciples of Entropy force (CSM and Imperial Guard, there may have been more not pictured). The Eiffel Tower is a proxy Tower of Tzeentch:

The gaming table:

Since it was just the 2 of us I modified the original scenario, making 5 objectives in the Jechal's deployment zone, which was from the table edge up to the defensive line of bunkers and fortifications. I deployed on the opposite table edge up to 36" in. Whoever held the most objectives at the end of the game won.

I got the first turn, so I moved the Warhound up a little and the Stormlord. The Basilisks were in the perfect spots to rain down ordinance on the defenders so stayed where they were. Since I was using Armored Company as the core of my force, I upgraded the Leman Russes with anti-tank rounds, which makes them basically Leman Russ Vanquishers from the new Imperial Guard codex except they have to remain stationary in order fire, and so the LRs stayed where they were initially deployed in order to try and crack open some bunkers or some vehicles.

Jechal had deployed a unit of Berserkers with an Chaos lord and a Sorceror into the bunker on my left (bunker at the bottom of pic #3 above), and I fired an anti-tank round into it, penetrated it, and reduced it to a smouldering crater. I then followed that up with some ordinance from some Basilisks and some Vulcan mega-bolter fire, which reduced the unit to just the Chaos Lord. In then fired another round into the bunker in the middle, and reduced it to a wreck.

In the Jechal's turn, he moved the Chaos lord that survived from the Berserker squad back towards his center and moved a Land Raider up to the defensive line to take some shots at the approaching enemy. With the majority of his vehicles out of range holding objectives or shaken/stunned from my first shooting phase, he only had a couple of shots at my tanks, and ended up not doing any damage.

In my 2nd turn I brought in the 2 Vendettas that were carrying Thousand Sons in on his flanks in his deployment zone (using Flank March) and dropped a unit of Thousand Sons near objective 4, and also near the unit of Bikes that were hiding in the rubble nearby. After a well placed Basilisk shot reduced the bike squad to just 1 model, the Thousand Sons finished it off with a hail of Inferno bolts. I also brought in 5 Sentinels whose goal was to crack open any Chimeras or Rhinos huddled around objectives to force the troops out using their Lascannons and hunter-killer missiles. They succeeding in destroyed 2 of the 4 transports they shot at (the white "templates" representing the crater formed by the destroyed vehicles). With some well placed anti-tank rounds from the Leman Russes, I managed to also blow up the Jechals two Leman Russes. The Jechal in turned blew off the battle cannon of one of my LRs and immobilized another that was parked in front of the last remaining bunker. He then fired the plasma pistols from his Berserker squad by objective 3 into one of the Sentinels, immobilizing it, and then assaulting both of them, wrecking one and destroying the other.

With a unit of Thousand Sons in their back field, the Land Raider that had moved up earlier turned around and disgourged a unit of Chosen, a Lord, and a Terminator Sorceror, who fired their bolters, psychic powers, and melta-guns into them, killing several. Some more shots from the Tzeentch marked CSMs by objective 4 reduced the Thousands Sons to only 3 models.

In turn 3 my remaining reserves came in, which consisted of 2 Chimeras with Renegades, a unit of bikes, and 4 more Armored Sentinels with lascannons and hunter-killer missiles. In my shootin phase I used the last 2 of my 3 strategic assets, and used Hammer Blow and Precision strike on the Tower of Tzeentch. Unfortunately, between bad dice rolls and the special ability of the Tower being obscured, I failed to do any damage to it! Argh! The Leman Russes either stunned vehicles or failed to do anything, and I completely forgot to bring down Basilisk death and Vulcan mega-bolter fiere! Double argh!

One Chimera came in near objective 3, fired it's melta guns into the Land Raider, destroyed a lascannon, and then assaulted it and the Chosen sqaud. The Bikers also joined in the assault against the Chosen. In the aftermath of the assault, the Chosen squad was reduced to only the Terminator Sorceror and 2 Chosen, who failed their Ld check and began falling back.

The Jechal succeded in reducing the movement of the Warhound to 6 inches, made a wreck of the Vendetta by objective 4, and destroyed the Vendetta by objective 1. His Vindicator took aim at the Renegades controlling objective 5, fired, and the shot landed directly on top of his Land Raider instead! But it only cause a minor damage result. However, the Renegades would destroy the Land Raider in the next turn with melta-gun death!

In the 5th and 6th turns, the Jechal's Baneblade was finally destroyed, the 2nd squad of Thousand Sons surrounded the immobilized Rhino by objective 1 (causing the unit within to not be able to deploy the whole game), the Tower of Tzeentch destroyed a couple of Sentinels, my bike squad destroyed the Tzeentch marked squad by objective 4, the final bunker was destroyed, The Jechal's last Land Raider was destroyed, and Vulcan-mega bolter fire finished off the Vindicator and a squad of Guardsman holding objective 3. A Basilisk shot destroyed a Chimera hiding in the ruins near objective 3, and additional fire reduced the disembarked squad to 2 models, who passed their Ld test. This squad then moved and ran toward objective 3, getting within 6" of it. In the end, I held objectives 2, 4, and 5, and the Jechal held objectives 1 and 3. But Jechal had claimed objective 3 as his Vital Objective, which made it count as 2 objectives, and thus the game ended in a draw. All in all it was a great, fun game!

Yes, very fun indeed. I am glad I took that Vital Objective, it was the only asset I took that actually made a difference. The tank traps and minefields didn't help at all, if any it was minor.

However the same could be said about Lord Mortis' assets as well. of the Three he chose, Flank March was the only one that helped him out, Hammer Down and Precision Strike both targeting my Tower of Tzeentch did absolutely nothing to it, not even a minor scuff mark, thanks to it always counting as Obscured.

I thought it was over for me all up untill the last round when i moved and ran my squad of 2 Disciples Vets and they barely got within the 6 inch range.. like 5 inches away from the Vital Objective. (That act alone is why the Disciples have not been eaten by my Khorne Berzerkers)

Great pictures.

Flank march is a powerful asset, I think overpowered, which is why Chris and I came up with some house rules to tone it down some.

As apocalypse is all about destruction on a whole new level, I only wish there had been a few pics of the big pie plates hovering over some masses of troops or vehicles. Laughing Twisted Evil

It's not so bad if you go into battle expecting it and plan accordingly.

There really wasn't that much "big pie plate" damage. Vulcan mega bolters took out troops and light vehicles, and Basilisks, lascannons, and battle-cannons did the rest. There were only two vehicles that had the big pie plates, and that was the Baneblade and the Warhound.

Always do, but that doesn't change what I think about it or why we modified it. Wink

To each his own.
